In 1982, Gordon Insurance was founded with the objective of trying to become not the largest Independent Insurance Agency in the Washington, DC area but one the most creative, offering policies and programs that would best suit the varying needs of its diverse customers.

Solvin W. Gordon, the owner, does not believe that to be successful means to advertise heavily, have a large staff or pay for Class A Office Space. Sol believes in giving to his clients personal service with quick response to questions, keeping his insured's away from harmful leases/agreements and, should the need arise, be the point man for claims.

Gordon Insurance is part of the Independent Insurance Agency System. This means Gordon Insurance has the means to understand and identify the difficult needs of his clients. Gordon Insurance has the ability to use over 5,000 independent carriers to locate the right coverage for a need. The direct carriers (State Farm, Allstate, Nationwide, Erie, Liberty Mutual and the like) can only use themselves and they do not like nonstandard situations and issues. With over 25 years of experience, Sol Gordon has seen it all (hard and soft markets, coverage additions or deletions, carriers that have come and gone).

Gordon Insurance provides numerous client services at no additional cost: Lease/agreement reviews, Review of Financial Statements and Depreciation Schedules, Loss Run Trending, Cash Flow Trending, and of course the normal duties of shopping, proposals and exposure detections.

About Sol Gordon
Sol Gordon is a fifth generation Washingtonian. His background before Insurance came from his other love, Real Estate. After graduating from the University of Denver's Burns School of Real Estate, Sol took his education into Property Management as a Certified Property Manager and currently maintains an investment portfolio of hotels, apartments, shopping centers, Industrial Flex Space, mobile home parks and land. His knowledge of the so many situations is the reason why Sol can offer insightful, first-hand advice to landowners, traders and wholesalers in the real estate industry. As a Former President of several Nonprofits including Metro Police Boys/Girls Club, DC, Sol extends his professional knowledge to Nonprofits and their unique needs.
